Every day there are more and more people from all over the world who make Australia their home. If you ever have been to Australia, we don’t need to explain why so many people want to immigrate.
But how does the Australian society think about immigration?
Recently a survey of the Australian National University found that about 80% believe immigrants are good for the country and less than a third think immigrants take jobs away from native-born Australians. Moreover, comparing the percentage of Australians who said that the immigration rate should be reduced has fallen from about 60% to 30% since 2003.
Such numbers show that most of the Australians are happy to welcome people from overseas. That’s great, isn’t it?
